About the Book

Nico’s View of the World is a work in progress.

It is a literary historical fiction set in Florence, Italy during the late 15th century. The action opens on the April 26, 1478 — the day of the Pazzi Conspiracy, when assassins tried but failed to kill Lorenzo de’ Medici. It closes on November 30, 1494 — the day King Charles VIII of France and his armies marched out of Florence, ending a tense, two-week occupation at the beginning of the Italian Wars.

A draft is circulating among first readers while I look for representation and a publisher. If you are interested in reading an extended sample, email me at the link below.

About the Writer

F.N. DiMarco is the author of Nico’s View of the World and the curator of this website.

He began his professional life as an academic guy, majoring in English, concentrating in Medieval and Renaissance Studies, and he completed a PhD with a dissertation in the theory of the novel and the work of William Faulkner. He taught composition, literature, and ESL for a dozen years until, midway through the journey of his career, he metamorphosed into an information technology guy. He has a day job with a software company doing something called ‘cloud architecture.’ This novel, which requires a different kind of cloud architecture and has been several years in the making, is his first. He lives in Massachusetts.

About the Writer the Writer is Writing About

Niccolo Machiavelli (1469-1527) began his professional life as a civil servant of the Florentine Republic. He was obliged to metamorphose into a private citizen when the Republic fell to the restored Medici. His writings revolutionized the study of the fields of politics, history, warfare, and Italian literature. Now, everyone has heard of him.
